Etelka Szalai

Speech therapist, specialist in tongue thrust swallowing and nasal breathing training

Introduction

Ever since I can remember, it has mattered not only what I say, but how I say it. As a child and teenager, this mostly showed through my participation in poetry recitals, elocution contests, and theatre activities. My career choice was obvious.

During my 34 years as a speech therapist, I have gained experience in almost every area of my profession. I began developing my therapeutic method for treating tongue thrust swallowing twenty years ago. Its effectiveness is proven by the hundreds of successful cases I have completed, whose insights I continuously integrate into my work. Fifteen years ago, I was able to permanently stop using asthma spray. The year of regular breathing practice that followed inspired and laid the foundation for developing my nasal breathing training methodology. I am always inspired to innovate when faced with something complex, challenging, or difficult. These are the cases that add flavour to my work.

I am very fortunate to still feel unwavering enthusiasm for my profession. The experience gathered over decades as a speech therapist gives me confidence. In the therapeutic process, I cherish the joy of connecting with people, the excitement of each case’s uniqueness, and the power of cooperation.
